Michael Chambless, Director

 

Education:

Bachelors of Science in Music Education from The University of Alabama

Experience:

Mr. Chambless is in his third year of teaching. Prior to teaching at Thompson

Middle School, he was the Band Director at Hillcrest and Duncanville Middle Schools in Tuscaloosa, AL. 

Bio:

Michael Chambless is in his third year teaching at Thompson Middle School, and in his second year as Director of Bands. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Alabama in the spring of 2014. During his time in college, he was an active performer in the University of Alabama Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and Saxophone Quartet. He was also a section leader in the alto saxophone section in the Million Dollar Band. 

Prior to teaching at Thompson Middle School, Mr. Chambless was the band director at Hillcrest and Duncanville Middle Schools. Under his direction, the band received superior ratings at Alabama's Music Performance Assessment. His professional affiliations include the National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, Alabama Music Educators Association, and the Alabama Bandmasters Association. 

Meredith Greene, Assistant Director

Education:

Bachelors of Science in Music Education from The University of Alabama

Masters in Music Education from The University of Alabama 

Experience:

Mrs. Greene is in her fourth year of teaching band and is in her second year at Thompson Middle School. She taught band for two years for Winfield City Schools before joining the faculty at TMS. Prior to teaching band, Mrs. Greene taught elementary music at Holt Elementary School in Tuscaloosa followed by teaching Pre-K music for the Tuscaloosa City Schools while attending graduate school at The University of Alabama.

Bio:

Mrs. Greene is a graduate of Winfield City High School in Winfield, Alabama. She attended The University of Alabama, earning her Bachelors degree in music education. Mrs. Greene was a member of many performing ensembles, including the Alabama Wind Ensemble, Huxford Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and many small ensembles. She was a mellophone section leader in the Million Dollar Band and was a member of the volleyball and basketball pep bands. After graduating, she taught elementary music at Holt Elementary School in Tuscaloosa. Following these experiences, Mrs. Greene earned her Masters degree in music education at The University of Alabama. She was a graduate teaching assistant with the music education department, which included assisting with undergraduate music education classes as well as teaching pre-K music for the Tuscaloosa City School System. Mrs. Greene also served as a staff member for the Million Dollar Band and continued to play horn with many of the university's performing ensembles. Mrs. Greene taught band for two years for Winfield City Schools and is now in her second year teaching band at Thompson Middle School.
